Frustrating Blog Post

Describe something that frustrated you this week. Why was it frustrating? What can you do to avoid that frustration in the future?

This week the most frustrating thing I have dealt with in terms of writing would have to be keeping up with all of the writing things we have had to do on top of just regular school work.  We have to read every night, write in our readers journal, do vocab and then this week we had to write about McMurhphy in that certain situation with the Big Nurse.  Usually it wouldn't be a lot of work for me but considering we just came back to school, its just been frustrating me because I have all this work to catch up on.  How I could avoid this in the future is take more time to finish everything so I'm not so stressed or flustered about all the work that I'm coming back to after this short vacation we just had.

Reaching A Writing Goal

Question: Have you made any progress towards one of your writing goals?

My writing goal at the beginning of the year was to have better word choice in my writing,  Throughout this last week or two of writing I have wrote about things that I have found more challenging to write about compared to what I normally would.  I noticed that it was difficult for me when I began writing my last writing prompt.  The one about New York City.  Although it was hard, I realized that the piece of writing brought me one step closer to achieving one of my writing goals.  I used better language that was more fluent and worked with the story I was telling.  I liked the more mature word choice I chose to put into my story, it had a better feel to it while reading it.  I also feel like it was a nice change and was more interesting since it had better or more interesting words.  "I almost couldn't contain my excitement." "It was the type of thing you really just wanted to take in every detail of.  Every night after that I would go out and look at the Freedom tower, it was just so breath taking." Those are a couple of examples of the new word choices I chose to put into my writing.

Blog Post #2

Question: Identify a problem you had in your writing lately and talk about what you will do next to try and solve it....

Within the next couple weeks I would like to talk or write about the importance of managing your time.  Lately, I have found it a little bit challenging to get everything I want done in the day finished. I find that my writing isn't as good as it could be because I tend to rush because I don't have enough time to write good quality writing.  Between sports, school, sleep and a social life, it's really important to keep up with deadlines and what not.  As I get older I realize more and more how difficult it is to keep up with everything I either want or need to accomplish.  I have found throughout the year some good time management ideas and have developed new time management skills.  I think that by writing about them it will help not only myself remember what they are but maybe help others that are struggling or have struggled with this problem as much as I have.  Also if I write about it, it might help other people realize that taking your time with your writing and that doing good quality work is important.

Writing Goals!

In English class this year we were asked to make three goals for ourselves.  I have put some time into thinking about what I wanted them to be and I have decided my three goals.  My first goal would definitely have to be put more time and effort into every single assignment that I'm given.  I plan on doing this by taking more time out of my schedule to work on my assignments for English.  My second goal would have to be learn more vocabulary.  How I could achieve this goal is by looking in a thesaurus or dictionary at some words to see their synonyms and antonyms.  My third and final goal would be to read at least 5 books this year in at least 3 different genres.  It may seem like a easy goal but it's not that simple considering I have such a busy schedule.  How I plan on achieving this goal is going to the library, asking for good suggestions in different genres and reading the best book I can find.
